Beaumont-en-Auge
Deauville---Beaumont-en-Auge
28km round trip

This is a lovely ride and trust me, it's the best and easiest way up to this lovely city.

bullet

As usual, leave Deauville going in the direction of Saint Arnault (D278).

bullet

Turn off to the right exit at the roundabout onto the D27 taking the direction of Tourgeville and Cabourg.

bullet

Keep on this road for quite a while to Vauville and turn left unto the D281.

bullet

There is a long stretch here where you can pick luscious berries late in August.

bullet

Stay on this road until you see the exit (again a left turn) to the D118.

bullet

Keep on this all the way to Beaumont-en-Auge.

bullet

Once at the top (90m) revitalize yourself with some cold cider at the cafe near the statue of the neighborhood's most famous mathematician, La Place.

bullet

Don't forget to admire the view before swooping down the D58 (opposite the D118).

bullet

Keep going until the signs show you the way back to Deauville along the D278.

An alternate return route makes a delightful longer ride:

bullet

Leave Beaumont by taking the D58 the other way (the first right when coming up with the D118).

bullet

At first you'll go a bit more uphill, to the highest point in Beaumont (and the surrounding area).

bullet

Keep going until the round-a-bout and then take the second right unto the D16 (in the direction of Houlgate, Cabourg).   You will pass some picture perfect country homes (but I couldn't take my camera out in the torrential rain).

bullet

At the next crossroad turn right on to the D45 to Annebault and keep going all the way past Branville which will lead you back to the D27.

bullet

Take the D27 all the way back to Deauville-Trouville.  It will be downhill almost all the way.
